Most Companies Underestimate the Activity Required to Hire Drivers

Most companies think hiring drivers is as simple as posting a job and making a few calls. It’s not. If you’re struggling to bring in quality CDL drivers, it’s probably not your ad or your company, it’s the amount of activity you’re putting in.

Hiring drivers is no different than building a business. It takes volume. A lot of it.

Here’s what that actually looks like:

To hire just one driver, you’ll typically need at least 10 solid applications. Not junk leads, actual qualified, contactable candidates. And yes, there are exceptions, but that’s the norm.

Now let’s say you have ongoing hiring needs. In that case, you’ll need a system that runs daily, not just when you’re desperate. That includes:

Reliable application sources- job boards, ad funnels, referrals. These need to deliver consistently, not in spikes.

Resume databases- they don’t work unless you work them. That means daily outbound. Based on our numbers, it takes 50 to 100 targeted reach-outs just to get one hire from a GOOD database.

Once you understand these numbers, you’ve got your baseline.

Hiring drivers isn't about luck. It’s a numbers game and if your activity level is too low, your results will be too.
